Dr. Eric Eltzroth

About Dr. Eric Eltzroth:

I have been a dentist in Chico since January 2003. I have continued to strive to stay well educated in all aspects of general dentistry; attending advanced dental implant courses that included classroom and hands-on training. I also maintain active membership in local, state, and national dental associations.

My practice is one that is technologically advanced, but will not venture into untested products. I like to think of all of my team and patients as my extended family because these are the people that I interact with every day. I am very happy to have a great support team that will make you feel very relaxed and comfortable in my office.

My Full Story

Education

I am originally from Ohio, where I lived until leaving for college. I attended Ambassador University in Big Sandy, Texas, and graduated with my Associate of Arts degree. I then moved to West Lafayette, Indiana and received my Bachelor of Science degree in Biological Sciences. Returning to Ohio, I attended The Ohio State University College of Dentistry. While at OSU, I received the Hinman Scholar award for my academic success. I was also selected to present my research project at the International Dental Research meeting in San Francisco.
Air Force

I entered the US Air Force my 3rd year of Dental School as a second lieutenant. Following graduation and successfully passing the Dental Boards, I completed Officer’s Training Course in Montgomery, Alabama – Maxwell Air Force Base. Dentists can go right into practice following the passing of the Dental Boards and State Board, however, I chose to gain further experience and training by undergoing a rigorous 1 year long Advanced Education in General Dentistry Residency at Wright Patterson Medical Center in Ohio. Following this program, I was selected to be one of the few dentists to be stationed at the new dental clinic at the Pentagon. While awaiting the opening of that clinic, I was stationed at Bolling Air Force Base in Washington, DC.
2001

Having served my time with the Air Force, I transferred into the Public Health Service and left the Pentagon as a Captain (O-3) in August of 2001 for Carson City, Nevada. As you know, September 11 occurred the following month. Because of my unique training which included forensic dentistry, I volunteered for and was selected to fly to “Ground Zero” in September 2001 and aid with the recovery/identification efforts. I received several awards during my stay with the Public Health Service and was picked by the US Surgeon General to be one of 16 dentists nationwide on his advisory committee.
2003

It was then time to open a practice of my own. I picked Chico, California, as the place to call home because of many reasons – small, yet large enough to have culture, central location to Tahoe, San Francisco, Napa, etc. I bought an existing practice in January 2003. I have continued to strive to stay well educated in all aspects of general dentistry. For example, I attended an 8 month advanced dental implant course that included classroom and hands-on training. I also maintain active membership in local, state, and national dental associations. My practice is one that is technologically advanced, but will not venture into untested products. I do not believe my patients should be the testing grounds for dental manufacturers. I like to think of all of my staff, which I call my team, and patients as my extended family. I am very happy to have a great support team that will make you feel very relaxed and comfortable in my office.
