Porcelain Veneers - Chico, CA
Dr. Eric Eltzroth specializes in creating a porcelain veneers experience that brings a renewed confidence to patients in Chico.
Porcelain veneers are very thin, custom-made materials designed to cover the front surface of your teeth to greatly improve your appearance. Porcelain veneers provide a cosmetic improvement to your smile by concealing stains, discoloration, and chips located on the surface of your teeth. They are an inexpensive and convenient cosmetic dentistry treatment that will change the way you smile at the world.
Porcelain Veneer Procedure
Getting new porcelain veneers usually requires 3 visits:
- Treatment planning - The first step involves talking to Dr. Eltzroth about the result that you are trying to achieve. During this appointment, Dr. Eltzroth will examine your teeth to make sure porcelain veneers are appropriate for you and discuss what the procedure will involve and some of its limitations.
- Preparation - To prepare a tooth for a veneer, Dr. Eltzroth will remove about 1/2 millimeter of enamel from the tooth surface, which is an amount nearly equal to the thickness of the veneer to be added to the tooth surface. Next, our team will make a model of your teeth, and send that model to a dental laboratory to construct your veneers. It usually takes 2-4 weeks to receive the veneers back from the laboratory. Temporary porcelain veneers can be placed during this waiting period.
- Bonding. Before the porcelain veneer is permanently cemented to your tooth, Dr. Eltzroth will temporarily place it on your tooth to examine its fit and color. A special cement is applied to the veneer and the veneer is then placed on your tooth.
